I've Decided I'll Update Again

Adventured.net is still up, but there is something different about a personal site that lets you truly express yourself... your sordid thoughts, your obsessions... your lack of direction. I suppose I'll only miss the commenting, and probably not that much.

Justin was out tonight at his JetBlue corporate marketing party so I was at home, buying a couple of Xmas gifts for him I otherwise would not have been able to, and searching the web for history - personal history that may matter only to myself, Joshie, and Val! (Catty Goths stuff and Bahema - was that her name?)... Wow, how life takes different turns and moves us as it sees fit. I feel I should dye my hair stark black or bleach streaks into a glorious blue.

But I am past that now, aren't I? I marketing manager in a dreamy adventure travel job living in New York City with two inexplicably cute Havanese puppies and my sister only a few miles from my door. It all sounds so ideal on paper. In reality, the soul (my soul) is a strangely wrought piece of equipment constantly analyzing, struggling and seaking. I guess that's what makes life worth living.

Sweet dreams,

This site will no longer be updated (until I change my mind and inform you otherwise).

Here we are again

Update 12:22 AM: Retardedly late. I am exhausted, and as much as I hate myspace, I have been uploading photos to it for a while now. :( lame

Update 10:54 PM: It is 28 degrees outside! I asked Justin if he wanted to go outside and see if we could find some ice. He didn't think we could, but only one block away was a black puddle! Justin touched it and the whole thing make a cracking sound and the top layer of ice began to float around. Yay!!!

10:30 PM: I never finished my entry yesterday. Honestly, I wasn't sure what I really wanted to say. I know I want to put a book list somewhere so I can share with my nonexistant readers the things that I have read since I have been to NYC.

So for now I'll put it here. If I ever organize anything (irl or otherwise), maybe that'll change:

The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed America - Erik Larson
Blue Streak: Inside jetBlue, the Upstart that Rocked an Industry - Barbara Peterson
Perfume: The Story of a Murderer - Patrick Suskind
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time - Mark Haddon

So, what, if any, significance is there in listing books and not even commenting on them? I dunno. Maybe at some point.

Oh yeah. I was published. FINALLY! I WAS PUBLISHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the article (though in the final copy it has been edited down a bit and is running with a photo I took :) and this is the publication.

1/15/2006 - Here we are again and nearly 2 months has gone by since my last entry... I have been in NYC for almost 3 months. I am not tired of my job yet, hallelujah. That's amazing for me. I sat down at my computer today with the goal of updating my website, adding photographs, etc. But my computer feels as sluggish as I do most of the time, and my inboxes and hard disks are as cluttered as my living room and guest room. *sigh*

I didn't leave work until after 7 PM this evening. At least Justin came and met me so we could head out together. We stopped at Johnny Rockets for dinner. Not impressive. Besides, I need to lay off the ice cream (shakes included). But the point of this entry isn't to deride myself.

When I figure out what it is, maybe I'll come back and write about it. I really shouldn't write when I am tired. :)

First Month!

I have been in New York for exactly ONE MONTH today. It has been just fantastic. Absolutely what the doctor ordered. Our own place, my own life, a job that is more than a job but a career, a bunch of people to interact with every day and seasons! Of course, I miss everyone back at home.

I am going back to San Antonio tomorrow to work for Kirkwood, though I anticipated I would work Thurs - Sunday, it will now only be Saturday. Which is a blessing in disguise, as it means I will be spending Thanksgiving with my family. :-)

There is so much to relate. As you may have known, I won't be sharing a lot of info now, but maybe someday... If anyone actually reads this thing. ;)

click to make big!

New York City

It only took me about a week to get around to posting... Sorry...

I've been taking photos everyday, even just one or two, since I've been here. But none today. Call me a slacker if you will. There is so much I want to do for this site, but I don't! I just don't! There is always another distraction. Well, I have written (on paper) some thoughts the first day I was going to orientation at JetBlue. I'll type them up if I ever get around to it.

I have some photographs to post, though most of them are mundane "this is me on this day" photos. The best photo I have is only because my boss said it looked cool. Granted, it looked cool, but I definitely wouldn't have noticed on my own. So there you have it.

I really am not in a sour mood. Just tired! Hopefully I'll have something more of substance to add soon. I really do like this city, despite its prices.
